Jean Victoire Adouin was a French naturalist, entomologist and ornithologist. Audouin was born in Paris and studied medicine.
In 1824 he was appointed assistant to Latreille as Professor of Entomology at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, and succeeded him in 1833.
